Office of the Spokesperson

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau will travel to Panama City, Panama, June 22-23 to lead the United States delegation to the 56th regular session of the Organization of American States (OAS) General Assembly.

Deputy Secretary Landau will meet the President of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, and other senior foreign officials and regional partners to advance U.S. priorities, including sovereignty, secure borders, democratic governance, regional security, commercial competitiveness, and a more accountable OAS. The Deputy Secretary will encourage enhanced cooperation to address illegal immigration, transnational crime, and shared security challenges — including in Haiti and Nicaragua — while advancing a democratic transition in Venezuela, protecting Bolivia’s democracy, and promoting trusted economic partnerships.

Deputy Secretary Landau’s trip underscores the Trump Administration’s commitment to strengthening partnerships across the Western Hemisphere and advancing shared security and prosperity in our region.
