Secretary Blinken’s Meeting with Israeli Defense Minister Gallant

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant today in Israel. The Secretary and Defense Minister discussed the proposal to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza as part of a hostage deal, secure the release of all hostages, and surge humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza. The Secretary commended Israel’s readiness to conclude a deal and affirmed that the onus is on Hamas to accept. He underscored the proposal would advance Israel’s long-term security interests, including by enabling the possibility of further integration in the region. He reaffirmed the United States’ ironclad commitment to Israel’s security.
